As the spring season is coming to a close for us, we thought we would share a few highlights of the past few months that has helped make our season such a success!!
We have met guests from all over the world (including England and a family from Derrek’s hometown in Minnesota) while sharing our passion of sailing – especially in the Keys. During this time we have had the opportunity to island hop between secluded islands such as Boca Chita – accessible only by boat, sail through Stiltsville – a town that was built in the middle of the Bay, to catch fish while under sail, and to dine at unique local restaurants that always seem to have a huge slice of Key Lime Pie on hand. This season has allowed us to meet new friends while showing them how to successfully live aboard a sailboat – whether in retirement or on a weeklong cruise with their family and friends.
During this season, we were also able to travel to the Bahamas for the American Sailing Association. There we went sailing in Marsh Harbor, met great locals (now great friends) that showed us around the islands, and had pictures taken of us that will be featured in the new ASA 104 Advanced Coastal Cruising Book that will hopefully be published next year.
This summer we will be sailing in the Keys teaching Scouts about sailing and how to snorkel Coral Reefs. We are grateful to the experiences we have had and look forward to the new ones coming this fall. If you have sailed with us this past season you have helped make this season unforgettable and we would love to hear of your next sailing adventures!
